EVE Online better than WoW?

Posted in Site news and Uncategorized

CharacterAfter four months, I’m selling my World of Warcraft account. Getting my Warlock to Level 60 took 15 days of solid playing time, and made me lose focus on other things. The Matrix Online only kept me busy for a few weeks when it came out last year, but WoW was different, somehow the repetitive grind night after night appealed to me at the time. Instead, I’ve decided to take up EVE Online because of the giant battleships and amazing scenery!. It won’t be as time consuming as WoW, because your skills level constantly, whether you’re playing the game or not.

EDIT: eBay removed my listing for being in violation of Blizzard’s intellectual rights. If you’re interested in purchasing the game and guide ONLY from eBay, then also aquring the character, I’m selling the whole lot for £105.

A danish baby whose parents wanted to call him Namenlos (German: nameless) has been given the name 'Christian' by the state. Why anyone would want 'Namenlos' on their passport is anyone's guess…

Man trades paperclip for Van

Posted in Uncategorized

Kyle, of oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com started an interesting money making scheme. He traded a red paperclip for a doorknob, which was then traded for astove and eventually for a 1995 For Cube Van. He's hoping to one day trade it for a house, or an island, or an island with a house on.

Song recognition by tapping

Posted in Uncategorized

Songtapper.com lets you tap the spacebar in time to a piece of music, then finds songs that match the beat you tapped. I can't get it to work after four tries, so I think it needs some refining…

Ear Candy – Spatial audio with a pair of headphones

Posted in Latest news

HoloPhonic.ch has a spatial MP3 file which makes you feel like there's a guy shaking a matchbox standing behind you. You have to use headphones to feel it properly, speakers work, but not as well. There were a few times that I seriously expected someone to tap me on the shoulder.

iPod School opens in London

Posted in Uncategorized

UK-based Selfridges has opened an iPod school an upmarket part of London, even though the manufacturer does it for free in its shop just round the corner.

Clueless music lovers who have embraced the trendy new technology but not the know-how can pay 65 pounds ($150) for a 40-minute lesson at Selfridges, on the popular Oxford Street shopping haunt.

I can understand how some idiots need lessons in checking email, but £65 for lessons in using an iPod?! There are only four buttons!

Posted in Uncategorized

I've just signed up for Blingo, a search engine that gets it's results from Google. If you're searching anyway, you might aswell win stuff while you're doing it. There's a Firefox plugin which adds Blingo to the search bar available too. Rogie at kokomedia.com says he's already won two £10 iTunes certificates and some other stuff.

Optimus OLED Keyboard scheduled for Feb. release

Posted in Latest news and Technology

Optimus KeyboardThe Optimus keyboard has hundreds of tiny OLEDs embedded in the keys, making the whole keyboard a sort of dynamic display. You can change what's displayed on the keys, meaning you can switch between keyboard layouts instantly. The Optimus keyboard also lets you display pictures in some apps, instead of using the toolbar, you can press the key on your keyboard!

No word on price yet, but I'd expect this to sell for at least $200 when it's released. The designer's website also has some weird designs, including an arrow shaped mouse which is apparently 'in stores now'.

What is OLED technology?
